RICE @ CHARLOTTE - 7:30 PM
So in case you're not an AAC person, I'll give you a quick rundown with what's going on at Rice right now. So last year, Rice was in pretty good shape. It was year 7 for Bloomgren... he had a ton of returning production. They brought in EJ Warner to play QB through the transfer portal. Vibes were high heading into the 2024 season. It was an absolute disaster. Bloomgren gets fired... they bring in Scott Abell to be the new head coach. Now you might be thinking "who cares?"... what makes this interesting is Scott Abell runs the option. He ran the option at Davidson for several years and had one of the best offenses in the FCS multiple times.

So went from a QB centered pass-first offense with Bloomgren and EJ Warner... to Scott Abell running the option with a brand new roster. A complete 180.

So how's it working out so far? Well the thing with the option is.,.. it doesn't always look great on paper. They opened up the season beating Louisiana outright on the road as a 2 TD underdog. They they played Houston tough... this is a competitive football team, without a doubt, even though the offensive numbers don't look very good on paper.

Now Charlotte is off to a really rough start here. Their first two games were against App State and North Carolina. The defense wasn't that terrible... but the offense was completely non-existent.

I really have no idea if Charlotte can stop this option offense. It hasn't looked explosive at all and Rice is most likely going to be missing their C David Stickle in this one. He's the returning starter from last year. At home... I think Charlotte can put up a fight. They were able to hold North Carolina in check.
Is Charlotte able to move the ball consistently though? Conner Harrell struggled in the first two games but he kinda had a breakout game last week. Granted... it was against Monmouth.

I really dk what to do with this game. I'll say Charlotte for the video but if you liked Charlotte, you shoulda bet it early in the week when it was over a FG. I'll say Charlotte and under but I really don't know.
