NHL Picks Thursday 2/16

I was right with the Coyotes beating the Lightning last night, but I should have just done the ML instead of winning in regulation. I really didn't think that game would go into OT let alone a shootout and that's where Arizona won. Still ended up green on the night because of the Red Wings winning and the Top Bet also hit. Lets keep it going tonight. 8 games on the ice so lets see what we got going on.

Both of these teams have picked up some big wins recently, but no team has been more impressive recently than Florida. They have really changed things since the break and are looking really strong right now so I'm going to side with them. What i really like in this game is the under because of the Caps defense and goaltending being really solid while the Panthers have stepped up on the defensive side as well. This will be a hard-fought battle and I wouldn't be surprised if this went into extra time with a 3-2 Panthers win in OT.

Columbus should have a really hard time finding goals in this matchup. They so play better on home ice, but they are still one of, if not the worst, team in the league especially offensively. Jets' defense is one of the reasons they are in playoff contention right now so I'm going to put my money on the under in this contest.

Boston is still the best team in the NHL, but they have shown some signs of slipping a little bit recently. They have only won 2 of their last 5 games but their 2 wins were against playoff teams in Dallas and Toronto. Nashville is another team that has stepped up their play since the break, but I still don't think they have enough depth or tools to deal with this Bruins team.

Red Wings are on the second night of back-to-back games and still continuing their Canadien road trip. They secured a win for us last night, but I don't think that's the case tonight. Flames are well rested and should be able to control the pace of this game. On home ice I really like Calgary to put on a show for the fans and win by multiple goals. Their defense should be able to keep the Wings attack limited and since Husso played in net last night they will be going with a backup tonight.

The Devils should have no issues at all finding scores against this Blues defense that allows teams around 3.6 goals per game. New Jersey has won 4 of their last 5 and St Louis won 2 in a row but i think the goals will be racked up in this contest. Devils' offense is really good and even without Jack Hughes they have been able to average 3 goals per game. He is listed as day to day so he could come back but ill side with the over in this one.

The Kraken takes on Philly tonight in Seattle and i like them to blow them out in this matchup. The Flyers offense is bad this year and will really have a tough time scoring against a very tough Kraken defense. The only things positive about the Flyers is that their defense can show up from time to time, but I don't see that happening tonight. I like the under for the fact that Philly might only score 1 goal and as of recently the Kraken offense has been struggling as well. Still, I think they put on a show for the fans and pick up a much-needed win against a lesser team.

Vegas is on a 3-game win streak and i think that streak continues tonight against the Sharks. They have won every game they played since the break and looking like the Knights are back in form from the beginning of the year. They are healthy and hungry to keep their lead in the west and on home ice tonight they need to have a good game. San Jose has shown some good offense at times, but their defense should get lit up by the attack from Vegas.
